Introduction

ICHS is committed to providing high quality, patient-centered prenatal care. Our mission is to partner with pregnant people throughout each step of their pregnancy journey. We are dedicated to delivering care with respect to your cultural background, personal values, and preferred language.

One family medicine team will take care of you prior and during your pregnancy, deliver your baby, and help with your recovery after childbirth. The same ICHS providers will also care for your newborn and as your child grows. For high risk pregnancies, ICHS has several community partners, and will help find the right specialist for you and your baby.

Prenatal care team

ICHS believes in a multidisciplinary approach to pregnancy care. Your medical team includes, but is not limited to:

  • Family medicine and obstetrics (OB) trained physician
  • Obstetrics nurse
  • Support with lactation
  • Nutritionist
  • Behavioral health specialist
  • Pharmacy services
  • Referrals to high risk OB doctors or other specialists if needed

Maternity support services at ICHS

  • First Steps is a Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) program that helps pregnant individuals stay healthy through pregnancy, childbirth, and the first year of life.
  • WIC is a supplemental health and nutrition program that helps pregnant, postpartum persons and their children access food, health services, and nutrition education.
I am thinking about becoming pregnant soon. What should I do?

We are excited to support you and your family on your pregnancy journey. Preparing for a healthy pregnancy often starts months prior to conceiving. Call us at 206.788.3700 to schedule a visit with a nurse or provider to learn more.

I might be pregnant and I would like to have my prenatal care at ICHS. What should I do?

Call us at 206.788.3700 to schedule a visit with an OB nurse for a pregnancy test. If a pregnancy is confirmed, we will help coordinate your prenatal care at ICHS.

C-section services

If you and your OB provider have discussed that a C-section delivery is right for you, an ICHS physician trained in C-sections may perform your surgery and help take care of you and your baby when you are in the hospital.
