Help protect yourself and everyone around you from this year’s flu.

The Washington State Department of Health strongly recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone aged six-months and older, including pregnant and nursing people.

“Vaccines are your best defense against the flu,” says Dr. Lakshmi Deepa Yerram, ICHS Chief Medical Officer. “Think of it as a shield, extending to keep you, your family, and everyone you are around healthy and protected. Getting a flu shot is the smart and the caring thing to do for you and your community."

“For millions of people every season, the flu means a fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, fatigue, and miserable days spent in bed. Millions of people get sick, hundreds of thousands are hospitalized, and thousands to tens of thousands of people die from flu each year.”

The 2022-23 flu season was one of the deadliest in the last five years.

“While respiratory illness precautions such as masking and social distancing helped keep the number of flu cases low during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s especially important now that most of us are around other people again to get a flu vaccine every year,” said Umair A. Shah, MD, MPH, Secretary of Health.

When should I get my flu shot?

The Washington Department of Health recommends everyone get their flu shots by October, but the flu vaccine is still available through winter.

What flu shots is ICHS offering?

ICHS is offering flu shots for children, adults, and older adults - including high-dose flu vaccines.

Is it safe to get a flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time?

Yes! Its safe and effective to get both of the vaccines together at the same visit. Many patients find it more convenient to get both with no significant drop in antibody response.
