Insurance and Payment Information

ICHS accepts the following insurance plans:

  • Basic Health Plan / Community Health Plan
  • Apple Health for Kids
  • Medicaid / Healthy Options
  • Medicare, including Community HealthFirst and other Medicare Advantage plans
  • Most major private insurance, including Aetna, Cigna, Coventry, First Choice Health, Integrated Health Plan, MultiPlan, Premera Blue Cross, Regence Blue Shield, United, and Zenith.

Acupuncture may be covered by some insurance plans; some plans require a referral from a Primary Care Provider.

If you do not have insurance, please speak with one of our Eligibility Workers about applying for a free or low-cost health insurance plan, or other payment options.  We will not turn you away even if you do not have insurance.

Payment Options:

  • ICHS accepts cash, check, and most major credit cards.
  • We also offer a sliding-scale discount program for uninsured patients and for services and medication not covered by your insurance.  Fees are based on your income and family size.  Please bring proof of income to apply for the program.

Basic Health Plan
Basic Health is a state-sponsored program that provides affordable health care coverage through private health plans.

To qualify for Basic Health, you must be a Washington State resident who is not eligible for Medicaid and whose family income is up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

2009 Update: Due to state budget cuts, the Basic Health Program is no longer accepting new applications.  Please contact one of our Eligibility Workers if you have any questions or would like to be added to the waiting list.

Apple Health for Kids
Apple Health for Kids is free for children in families below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level ($36,620 for a family of three). Families above that level may be eligible for the same coverage at low cost: $20 a month per child for families below 250 percent of poverty and $30 a month per child for families below 300 percent of poverty. (The premiums max out at two per family, so no family would pay more than $60 a month in premiums.)

Medicaid
Medicaid provides health insurance coverage to poor, disabled and the impoverished elderly people.

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services offers Medicaid to state residents through its managed care program, Healthy Options. To find out more about Healthy Options and applying for Medicaid, contact one of our Eligibility Workers.

Healthy Options
Healthy Options is the Medicaid managed care program offered by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.

Healthy Options provides comprehensive medical coverage for families, children under 19 (Children’s Medical) and pregnant women (Pregnancy Medical) who meet the Medicaid income requirements.

To find out more about Healthy Options and to see if you and your family qualify, please contact one of our Eligibility Workers.

Medicare
Medicare is a health insurance program for people 65 years of age and older, some disabled people under 65 years of age, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure treated with dialysis or a transplant). It includes hospital insurance, medical insurance and coverage for prescription drugs.

Patients with Medicare coverage can also apply for a Medicare Advantage insurance plan.  These plans may include coverage for additional health services, such as vision, acupuncture, etc.  Our Eligibility Workers can help you with questions you may have about Medicare or your Medicare Advantage options.

Sliding-Scale Fees
ICHS’ sliding-scale fees are based on family size and income. Patients will be asked to complete an application form to determine how much of the total cost they have to pay.

For more information and help in filling out the application, please talk to one of our Eligibility Workers.
